School Counselor

Mr. Lou Caratelli

I was born and raised in Queens, NY (let’s go Mets!). I received my BS in Physical Education at Weber State University in Utah and discovered my passion for counseling teens while working at a residential treatment center for adolescents. I then moved to Seattle (let’s go Seahawks!) and worked for several years as Director of Teen Services for the YMCA before heading back to New York to continue my work for the Y there. I earned my Masters degree in School Counseling at Long Island University before moving down to North Carolina in 2012, starting my career in education at Southwest High School as their Testing Coordinator. I then moved on to Northside HS, where I worked as a School Counselor before moving over to OVS last year.​

I live in Cedar Point with my beautiful wife- a Business & Computer Science teacher at OVSS, daughter Tara - a recent ECU grad, and son Andrew- a rising junior at Swansboro HS. When I’m not at work, you can find me at the beach, on our boat, at ECU football games (let’s go Pirates!), or in the yard playing fetch with my 2 goldendoodles, Wilson and Charlie.​

I’m excited to be part of the Onslow Virtual Secondary School family, where we are building a tradition of excellence from the ground up. Let’s go Ospreys!
